Expert advice from dentists who use PerioChip in their practices.
View All Tips
- Position PerioChip® at the entrance to the pocket and press firmly to submerge.
- Try to insert the chip using a continuous motion
- If needed, complete the insertion using periodontal probe (side wise) or a flat edge instrument
- If necessary, slightly angle the tweezers holding the PerioChip during insertion to bypass the height of the contoured (the widest area ) of the tooth coronal to the free gingival margin.
- Time is of the essence – saliva may soften the PerioChip and make submergence more difficult
- Ensure that PerioChip remains subgingival - never place less than a whole chip in the pocket.
Post Treatment
Patients should avoid the use of interdental brushes or floss at the site of PerioChip for 24 hours after placement. All other hygiene may be continued as usual.
Slight discomfort may be reported immediately after insertion, especially in tight pockets. This it often caused by RSD. It should resolve on its own within 6-24 hours
PerioChip can be inserted once every three months in periodontal pockets ≥ 5 mm and should be integrated into a medium to long-term maintenance program for adult periodontitis alongside thorough dental hygiene regimen.
